2/52: we had our first snow day! L loved walking a 2/52: we had our first snow day! L loved walking around in the snow but didn’t love touching it 😂 we only got maybe two inches so it melted pretty quickly the next day! We had a chilly week in Birmingham, so besides getting back into our school routines, we spent a lot of time inside! The first few weeks after a break are a great time The first few weeks after a break are a great time to add in some SEL lessons! I love using books to introduce SEL concepts and I highly recommend this book called The Circles All Around Us 💗 It’s a great book about making connections with others. After reading the book, use this activity to encourage a discussion about our own circles. Students will write or draw people that are in each ‘circle.’ Add your students’ photos to the inner circle or ask them to write their name! My friend Zeba @kindergartencafe wrote another boo My friend Zeba @kindergartencafe wrote another book! 🩷 This is a second book in her series caring critters. Trixie loves to be a class clown and make others laugh. Unfortunately her silliness disrupts her classmates’ learning. Trixie learns about expected and unexpected behaviors and how to think about her actions. Like Zeba explains in her book, she uses expected and unexpected to label the behavior because certain behaviors may be expected in different scenarios. For example, Trixie may sing while walking in line in the hallway. This is an unexpected behavior. However, if Trixie sang in music class, that would be expected. This book is a great addition to your classroom library! I’ve had multiple students do the things that Trixie does, so this is the perfect teaching tool to help them learn to think about their behavior. 1/52: Our first (short) week of the year was fille 1/52: Our first (short) week of the year was filled with couch snuggles, family date nights, and house projects. After a mellow New Year’s Eve, we stayed cuddly and cozy inside! We had early bedtimes and slow mornings, which was a welcome break from the holiday busyness and the constant sickness in our house in December. Alex worked on repainting the living room and kitchen walls while he had a few days off work, I finished reading another book, and L played with his new Christmas toys. 2024 recap 🎈Instagram would only let me post 10 2024 recap 🎈Instagram would only let me post 10 so I had to leave out a few 🤪 January: cozy coffee breakfast to celebrate my birthday February: L’s first trip on a plane! We went to see my grandma March: Al started working on landscaping our backyard April: our first overnight away from baby! 🥹 we went to a beautiful wedding in the north Georgia mountains May: I was surprised with a beach trip for Mother’s Day 🌊 June: we took L out to Washington to check on our house July: we have a one year old!! 😭😭😭 August: L’s first day of school! He goes to a parents day out program half a day twice a week. September: my first trip away from baby! I went up to Wisconsin with friends 🎉 October: L’s aunt got married, so he was in his first wedding! November: Covid and the stomach bug took us down, so we stayed at home a lot and took walks with our pups December: another month full of sickness. L gets into absolutely everything and thought putting toys in my coffee was funny 😂 It’s been a good year. It’s been a hard year. We’ve grown and learned so much. I can’t wait to see what 2025 has in store for us! Have you created resolutions for this year?
