I’m so happy you’re here! I’m Libby, and I love all things first grade – the curriculum, the content, and the sweet kiddos. I’m passionate about helping K-2 teachers save time in the classroom with fresh ideas and fun, effective resources. My spouse is in the military, so I’ve learned to be very adaptable while moving from school to school. We are currently stationed in Birmingham, Alabama with our two pups and a baby on the way! When I’m not creating or spending time with loved ones, you can find me online shopping or learning about the science of reading.

If you’re looking for hands-on, engaging activities for the primary classroom, you’re in the right place! Take a peek around, grab some freebies, and explore ideas on the blog. I can’t wait to connect with you, teacher friend!

4 tips for moving with little kids: 1️⃣ Put baske 4 tips for moving with little kids:

1️⃣ Put baskets everywhere
When you’re showing your house, it can feel so challenging to keep it tidy with kids. We kept baskets everywhere so that we could toss clutter into them quickly and keep the house looking pretty tidy for showings. It will make the clean up process so much faster! If you have time to actually put the things away, great! If not, your house will still look much better with a basket full of stuff than clutter on the floor.

2️⃣ Print & display pictures of your new home to prep your kids + bonus: add furniture currently in your kids’ rooms to their new rooms
I printed off photos from the listing of our new home and put them up before we moved so that our toddler could look at the new house often. I also used AI to add furniture and things from his current room (taken from the listing photos from our house) to the room that will be his at the new house. He loved to look at the photos and see his things in his new room!

3️⃣ Add something unique & special to your kids’ room that will come with you to your new house
About two weeks before we moved, I added a star light to my toddler’s room. It doesn’t have to be this light - it could be anything that’s new and exciting! He loved looking at it as he fell asleep and it was something special that would come with us to the new house. I think having this new thing that he really loved in his new room helped him be more excited about the house.

4️⃣ Prioritize setting up your kids’ rooms first

Our priority when moving is obviously setting up beds so that we have somewhere to sleep that night, but right after that is getting our kids’ rooms set up as quickly as possible. We got all of his furniture set up first and I boxed up specific items that would make his room feel familiar that we were able to pull out and set up. Having a lot of familiar things all around our toddler’s room made him feel more at home.

What’s something that helped you move with little kids?

Camera roll dump from the last week because it’s b Camera roll dump from the last week because it’s been a crazy one!

We closed on our house. My sister got married in a snowstorm. We moved. Apparently we thrive on chaos 🤪

We are racing to get settled in our new home as soon as we can before Alex deploys later this month! Our kids and pups have all adjusted well so far. Hopefully that continues as we get unpacked these next few weeks!

I learned a lot as far as moving & showing a house with very little kids 😂 so if you’re moving soon with little ones I’m happy to share what worked for us!

It was Saturday morning and I was thrifting with m It was Saturday morning and I was thrifting with my 2-year-old. I found some summer clothes for him and then I saw this book in near-perfect condition and less than $2 (!!) If you’re unfamiliar with this book, it’s about showing compassion and love even in challenging times.

Knowing what I do now, I think I was meant to find this book that morning. Only hours later I would learn of another innocent civilian killed by ICE agents in Minneapolis. I watched the video. felt shaken and horrified. I felt hopeless. If a bystander helping someone isn’t safe, then who is? This isn’t the kind of place I want to raise my children.

We’ve lost our way. We’ve forgotten that we’re all humans deserving of love and compassion. No one should fear leaving their house.

Today I woke up feeling hopeful. Please call your legislators and ask them to put a stop to this. I shared in my stories two easy ways to do this and both take less than 5 minutes.

Use your eyes. Watch the bystander videos. Don’t just read headlines and regurgitate them without any evidence. The people you see belong to someone. That was someone’s child.

We are all human. We all deserve love and compassion.

One part of being an adult that no one prepares yo One part of being an adult that no one prepares you for, is that you have to keep living your life even when it feels like the world crumbling around you.

Your heart is breaking for the events happening outside of your home, but you have to make the lunches and do school pick up and buy the birthday gifts. You feel hopeless and distraught, but you walk into the classroom and greet your students with a smile. You hug your kids a little longer before bed. You make sure they feel safe and loved, knowing that another child’s life has been thrown into turmoil because of the color of their skin. You read the headlines through tears and then mark your calendar for camp signups.

The trauma these children are enduring is unacceptable. Imagine living in constant fear that someone you love could be taken from you. That when you come home from school one day, you might watch a masked man forcibly remove your parent, sibling, cousin, or aunt. That kind of fear can have lasting effects.

There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children.
- Nelson Mandela

Parenthood is political. Teaching is political. Existing in this country is inherently political because the policy enacted within it directly affects your life.

One day our kids will look back on this time in history and ask what we did. What will we tell them?
