Arrr you ready to learn about AR words?!? This resource includes 6 activities to practice the AR Bossy R or R controlled vowel sound. All activities have an adorable pirate theme! These R controlled vowel activities are perfect for centers, small group activities, or whole group teaching. End the week by having a pirate day and making the AR Pirate headband! This adorable headband is a great way to teach about the AR sound. I love teaching the Bossy R sound with my students because we get to talk like pirates for the day. R controlled vowels can be tricky, but your students will remember becoming a pirate for a day and the /ar/ sound!

Students will read words and choose only those with AR to glue onto their headband. Eye patch included! 😉 *The pirate eye patch may need to be adjusted depending on head size.*
